Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and
forever
Salvation is more than just believing in the existence of Jesus
Christ as the Son of God. Even the devils believe, and tremble.
If you believe that Jesus came and died and rose again, good for
you. But so does Satan, and he knows his time is short.
So you must understand that simply claiming to believe in the existence of Jesus won't save you, if you are saying it with your mouth, but your heart is far from it. Jesus said that there will be many who called him "Lord, Lord" who will be cast into hell. Jesus said, "How can you call me Lord, if you do not the things that I say?"
You must understand this, because your life for the rest of eternity may depend upon this one truth: Just because you believe in the existence of Jesus, does not automatically mean that you serve him. Just because you say, "I serve Jesus," does not mean you do. Look in the mirror when you say that and ask yourself, "Is a lie coming out of my own mouth?" Just saying it does not make it true. If you say, "I serve Jesus!" but you really are serving your own lusts and the cares of this world, then you are deceiving yourself, and God knows the difference.
Just because you claim to be a Christian, does not mean you are a born-again one. Many times we use the phrase "born-again" so lightly that we don't realize what it means anymore. Many will say that they've been born again, when really all they mean is that they believe in the existence of Jesus. And yet believing in the existence of Jesus is more than just a confession of faith. You're not saved, because you prayed the sinners prayer. You can pray the sinners prayer every night for the rest of your life and still not be saved. The sinners prayer is not some kind of secret password to get you into heaven, or some kind of magic spell to save you.
You might say, "Well, I know all of that. I don't trust in the sinners prayer. It's the blood of Jesus that saves me."
You're absolutely right if you say that. The blood of Jesus and only His blood can save you. And yet, the blood was shed for all, but not all are saved. Why not? Because not all believe.
So you say, "Well, I believe. I've been a Christian for a long time."
If you really believe, then you will act like it.
If you believe that Jesus died and rose again, then you will make Him the Lord of your life. If you don't make him the Lord of your life, then you don't believe, and you can continue for the rest of your life to solemnly swear with your mouth that you believe, and yet you say it with your mouth, but your heart is far from it.
You must make Jesus the Lord of your life. Will you do that?
Making Jesus the Lord of your life is not what you did yesterday. It's what you are doing today, right now, and tomarrow, and the days after it. You must settle it in
your heart that no matter what God wants you to do with your life, you will lay down all
your goals, all your ambitions, all your desires, and all your dreams, and you will do
with your life whatever He wants you to do. That's making him the boss.
Jesus said,
"How can you call me Lord, and do not the things that I say?"
You must do the will of God. Praying a prayer and telling God you
will obey him is no good if you don't do it. You have to obey. Jesus Christ is the author
of salvation to all those who obey God.
Will you proclaim your Faith?
You need to confess your faith in Jesus to your friends and
family. Some who think they are saved keep their faith a secret, because they know
that if they told their friends, then they would lose their friendship. But the scripture
says that if you are ashamed of Jesus, then Jesus will be ashamed of you when he comes
back.
So tell your friends and family about your faith in Christ Jesus
without shame.
Ask yourself: Do your close friends and family know that you are a Christian?
If they don't, then you need to tell them.
Ask yourself: Do your close friends and family consider your faith to be real?
If your close friends and family have doubts about your Christianity, or they don't believe that you are for real, then something is wrong. Now I'm not talking about strangers or enemies, I'm talking about those who live with you, who work with you, who know the way you live, talk, and behave yourself. If they were to be questioned concerning you, would they say that you are, "very strong in Faith and intimate with Jesus"? Or would they say that you live and act no different than the average unbeliever, except that you "claim to believe in Jesus"? Just telling your friends and family that you are a Christian means nothing if you don't live it.
Will you pray and keep yourself in God's presence?
The scripture says that if you don't pray, your oil will run out:
and that if your oil runs out, you will run back to the world as a backslider. The Oil is
the Holy Spirit. You must pray, and keep yourself full of the presence and oil of the Holy
Ghost. Otherwise, if you run out and backslide, then the scripture says that Jesus will
come back when you are not expecting him, and the door to heaven will be closed, and you
will not be allowed in. This is what happened to the 10 virgins in the scripture. They did
not pray and keep plenty of oil, so they backslid and went back to the city, which was the
world. Then when Jesus came, they got left out and could not get in. The scripture says
watch and pray. You must have oil to avoid backsliding.
Will you use what God gives to you?
The scripture says that if you bury the gifts and callings that
God gives you, then you will literally get thrown into the pit of hell when Jesus comes
back to reckon with you. That's what happened to the man who buried his one talent that
God gave to him. It says that even though he was a servant of the Lord, yet did he still
get cast into hell because he did not use what God gave him. He was declared to be an
unprofitable servant. This won't happen to you as long as you serve the Lord and live for
him to the best of your ability from now till the day you die.
Will you have mercy on servants of the Lord who
are poor?
The scripture says that if you turn your face from the cry of the
poor, especially those who serve the Lord, you also shall cry, and shall not be heard. On the great day of
judgment, the scripture says that Jesus will separate between those who had mercy on the
servants of the Lord who were poor, and those who had the ability, but did not. Those who
helped the servants of the Lord who were poor will be accepted into heaven, and those who
did not will be cast into hell. Jesus said, "Because you did it not to the least of
these my brethren, you did it not to me."
So when you see someone in need, and you have the money to help: Give, and give cheerfully, and God will bless you!
Will you forsake the lusts and distractions of
this world?
The scripture says that there are some who hear the Word, but
because they were unwilling to forsake the lusts and distractions of this world, then they
became unprofitable servants. You must not allow the lusts and things of this life to
distract you from serving the Lord.
So quit watching junk on television and start reading the bible.
When Do We Love the World Too Much?
1. When, for the sake of profit or pleasure, we willfully and deliberately do evil or transgress God's commandments.
2. When we work harder to obtain the luxuries of this life than we do for the Kingdom of God.
3. When we are not content or patient when under awkward circumstances, particularly financial.
4. When we cannot part with anything that we possess to those who want it, who deserve it, and who have a right to it.
5. When we envy the fortunes of others who are in the world.
6. When we notice people and esteem them higher just because of their financial standing or parental background.
7. When we dislike others for the simple reason that everyone else feels the same way.
8. When worldly prosperity makes us feel proud, vain and superior.
Will you love your neighbor as yourself?
The scripture says that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. And the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Who is your neighbor? Your neighbor is everybody you come in contact with. Do you believe that God lives inside of you? The scripture says, "He that loves not, does not know God, for God is love." So you can't say that God lives in your heart, if there is no love in your heart, because God is love. No love, no God. It's just that simple. Do you want more of God? Get more of Love, for God is love!
Will you forgive others, from your heart?
The scripture tells us that if we expect God to forgive us of our sins, we had better forgive others who have wronged us. So if you, being once an enemy of God because of your sin, received forgiveness from God, becoming a child of God, and a friend of God: how much more should you also do the same thing for your enemies? So do unto your enemies as you would have God do unto you, because the same way you treat your enemies is the way you should expect God will treat you. Because you were once an enemy of God, but he forgives you, so go do the same for your enemies. That's what David did for Saul in 1Samuel 26:24 when David spared Saul's life: "Now behold, as your life was highly valued in my sight this day, so may my life be highly valued in the sight of the LORD, and may He deliver me from all distress."
This means that if someone owes you a debt, and they ask for you to cancel the debt, then cancel it. Or if someone offends you, and they repent, then you quickly forgive them, and don't hold a grudge. Jesus said that when you pray, forgive. Because if you don't forgive men who have a debt or a sin against you, then neither will your heavenly Father forgive you of your sins. But if you forgive men, so likewise will your heavenly Father forgive you.
Will you soften your heart towards God, and repent of your sins?
How to Tell if You Have Hardness of Heart
1. Light views of the evil of sin;
2. Frequent commission of sin;
3. Partial acknowledgement or confession of sin;
4. Pride and deceit;
5. Ingratitude;
6. Lack of concern about the Word of God;
7. Stifling the convictions of conscience - disobeying the small voice within;
8. Shunning reproof;
9. Ignorance of Divine things.
Will you let Jesus forgive you?
Jesus says that if you don't let Jesus wash your feet and forgive
you of your sins, then you have not part with him in heaven. Unless you allow Jesus to
cleanse you, then you have no forgiveness. Without the shedding of the blood of Jesus, you
have no forgiveness. You can't receive forgiveness any other way. A priest can't pay for your sins. You can't pay for your own sins, nor will
God honor any of your attempts to pay for your own sins. You can't whip yourself, or even
hang yourself on a cross to pay for your own sins. Your own blood can't pay for your sins. Only the perfect blood of Jesus can pay
for your sins. You must accept the fact that you have sin, and that you can't pay for it,
and that you are completely dependant upon the blood of Jesus and his mercy.
If you answered "yes" to all the above questions, then
pray this prayer with me.
To pray this prayer with me, click the play button below:
Say, "Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. And I
believe you came to earth, and died for me on the Cross. And I believe you rose from the
dead, and you ascended on high. And I believe you're seated now at God's Right Hand, and
you're coming again to earth. Dear Jesus, I receive you, and I love you, and I thank you,
for dying for me on the Cross. Right now, I proclaim, I no longer belong to Satan. I
belong to God. I proclaim, I will not serve the devil. I will not serve myself. I will
serve the Lord. I ask for the Holy Spirit to come and seal me until the day of redemption,
and change my heart, and help me to live the Christian life. Right now, God Almighty has
just become my Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ my Savior. The Holy Spirit my Comforter. I no longer belong to Satan, I belong to God. And
forever, I am His. Washed in the Blood. And I am now Born Again! Amen! And, Amen!"
Now, as a Christian, you need to read the bible every day. You
should get a good translation that is easy to read that you can understand. It does not
have to be the King James, but make sure it is the Word of God. And then just read a
little bit every day, and let God talk to you through his Word. And don't just read it, but also put it into practice. And don't read it just for the promises, but read it for reproof and correction as well, and let it change you. Some preachers will tell you that you must read your bible every day, but I tell you that you ought rather to DO the commandments every day than to just READ them. Don't read it when you are so worn
out, physically tired. Just read for thirty minutes, or maybe an hour: maybe in the morning, or at
lunch break, or whenever. But just get the Word into your heart and life.
Secondly, every day just talk to God. Commune with him at home, on
the bus, at work. Find time to talk to God every day. Tell him your troubles, and he will
answer prayer, for he is the God that answers prayer.
And thirdly, as Christians we must go to church, to grow strong,
and to fellowship with the saints. Find a good church and go to church on Sunday.
Now, go find someone and tell them, "I've just been
saved!"
